Interviews: Krapf
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Progressive Rock/Metal artist, Krapf, from the USA. Check it out!.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Since the project is primarily led & directed by me (Isaac) the band name derived from my
last name. Never intended to name the band after myself but it seemed to be the easiest
way to capture the identity of the band and a good way to market.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
I feel most creative and comfortable writing metal and rock music. I enjoy most genres but
for what I am internally trying to get out, these genres fit that mold the best at the moment.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
I knew the bass player (Pat) from a local cover band project. The primary drummer (Delroy)
I met in school years prior.
4. Each band member's favourite band?
Isaac is a big fan of Devin Townsend and Pat enjoys Royal Blood.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Past, present and future experiences, thoughts and apprehensions of my life (Isaac)
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last show was at The Recher in Towson, Maryland USA. We opened for Wednesday
13, Stitched Up Heart and Dead Rabbits.
7. Where would you like to perform?
All over the world. A dream venue would be The Royal Albert Hall in London, England.
8. Whom would you like to perform with?
My Day 1’s.
9. Whom not?
No one specific. Just immoral people / lacking values.
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Speaking for myself (Isaac), I still deal with stage fright or “the nerves” from time to time.
Most of it comes from concerns of gear failure haha. The best way to feel confident on
stage is in the preparation. If you know your performance inside & out it is easier to just
enjoy the moments interacting with the audience. The audience is there to enjoy a show,
not be critics (except for that one guy with their arms crossed).
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Devin Townsend, Zeal & Ardor and Rainbow.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Socks! Yikes.
13. What do you think of your fans?
Most I interact with play an instrument or have interest in the “behind the scenes” of the
project. Seems to be a music educated fanbase which is pretty cool but not necessary in
order to resonate & enjoy the music.
14. What do you think of our site?
Easy to navigate & well organized
15. Something to add?
Wish you the best!
