Track By Tracks: Dogflesh - March Of The Damned (2025)
1. Intro:
On our previous three albums, we have always opened up the albums with an instrumental
track, and the fourth album was no different. We decided to call it that purely because it was
introducing the album to listeners; this was a track written by Rob.
2. March Of The Damned:
This was another track written by Rob, and it is based around the ill-fated
invasion of Russia by Napoleon and how they were defeated by not only the Russians, but
predominantly the freezing cold weather.
3. The Pariah:
Another track written by Rob is about evil in general and how people are
frightened of it, how it tortures and torments them, in whatever manifestation it comes in, and is also
evil's response to those people and how god and the church never intervene in any manner of evil.
4. City Of Gold:
This was a collaboration by Dave and Rob.
Dave came up with the initial Spanish-sounding riff at the beginning of the track, and Rob wrote the
lyrics to the song around that sound, which is about the Spanish conquistadors who conquered the
Aztec Empire and searched for the fabled city of gold, El Dorado.
5. Bring Out The Devil In Me:
This was written by Dave and is about toxic relationships that people
will have been in.
6. Drag Me To The Gutter:
Another track written by Dave and how bad relationships can affect people
in different ways, from turning to drink, domestic violence, getting in trouble with the law, taking drugs, and ultimately suicide, and how you can go from having everything to nothing.
7. Medusa’s Kiss:
Rob wrote this track and is the story of Medusa, who was a beautiful priestess who
was cursed by Athena and turned into the gorgon that we all know through Greek Mythology, and how mortal people looking into her eyes were turned to stone, and ultimately, her demise at the hands of
Perseus, who beheaded her.
8. DOA:
Written by Dave, it is a track written about dead musical icons, from Jimi Hendrix, Sid
Vicious, Brian Jones, Jim Morrison, and John Lennon.
9. Church Of No Religion:
This was written by Tim Whitfield, who was one of the original members of
the band from 1983 until he stepped down in 2025, and is about the Church of Scientology and its
religious beliefs.
10. Rock n Roll Misfits:
Rob wrote this track after a headline show that we played in Camden in 2018,
and it is how the people in the venue interpreted the band. The metalheads thought we were too punk
to be metal, and the punks thought we were too metal to be punk, which is the reason for the title of the
track.
11. Jekyll & Hyde:
The final track on the album, again written by Rob, is about alcohol and the
effects that it has on individuals if taken excessively. How can you go from a normal person one
minute and the next minute you become an instant arsehole whose whole persona changes?
