Track By Tracks: Terror Garden - Terror Garden (2026)
1. SUPERMODEL VIRUS:
PAUL TERROR (lead vocals): Well, the lyrics are written about what’s been going on in the news. The world's society is getting too touchy-feely.
MIKE DE GRUCHY (guitar/vocals): Yeah, so that song was based on an old demo that Paul had. I really liked the heaviness meets like electronica kind of beat, and we took it from there. We wrote the second half as a band and decided in the end that that was an awesome opening track and lead single.
2. PISS DRUNK:
P: Lyrically, that's about an old drummer of mine who got piss drunk and spent thousands of dollars on the internet. Then, on the other flip side of it is all these people sitting in their basements posting how they feel about politics, religion, and how they're the greatest musicians in the world, yet never accomplished anything. It's basically about doing stupid things on the internet.
M: We know a bunch of those *laughs*. So, Ed Pallotta joined the band about two-ish years ago, and this was the first riff he brought into the band, which was the main riff. And I wrote some stuff in it, Bill did, and Paul came up with some great melodies. That was the first song we actually worked on for the EP. Very proud of it. I think it's cool, and I hope everyone digs that one.
3. HOLLOW:
M: That was originally a recent riff that I wrote that kind of became the main part of that song, and then we just took it from there. That might be my favorite song on the EP. I think it's really cool.
ED PALLOTTA (guitar): The fun thing about that song musically, guitar-wise especially, is that none of the parts in that song, at least on the guitar, repeat or there's very little variation, but it's kind of like a linear thing from start to finish. So, that's my favorite song to play out of the EP.
4. NO TIME TO WASTE:
P: Basically, there's no time to waste. Clock's running down.
E: True story! It’s like punky and metal-y.
M: Pretty self-explanatory, especially if you read the lyrics. This was another riff that Ed introduced into the band, the main riff, and we took it from there. I think it's really cool. It reminds me of Iron Maiden meets the Misfits, and then there's a Judas Priest kind of solo section. Currently, even though we haven't played it live much because it was the last song we completed, it might be my favorite song to play live off the EP right now because it's fun.
GEE (drums): It's definitely mine. Yeah, my favorite to play live. It's like The Offspring on crack *laughs*
5. DOPESICK:
P: Oh, the lyrics say it all.
G: Yeah. I think Bill wrote this.
E: It was that time when it was just me, Gee, and Wild Bill. We were at the rehearsal studio, and we had that nice, little “memories” part in the middle. So we came up with that part, and then there was like a Tool-ish part that came after it. We shelved that middle part for a while and then built the rest of the song around it.
M: I threw out ideas for structure here and there, but I would say 95% of that song, Wild Bill wrote. That was honestly his first major stamp of songwriting in Terror Garden, and he did a fantastic job. It's a great song. And I remember one of the last riffs we ever wrote was the solo rhythm. It was Bill, Ed, & myself. We sat there for a whole practice. We must've gone through like 50 renditions of like what the solo rhythm should be, cause we hit writer's block. Then finally, we figured out what sounded good, but yeah, that process was a pain in the ass *laughs*
6. RELAPSE:
M: Also written by Bill entirely. That was originally part of the end of Dopesick, but when it came to recording, we decided to split it into a different track.
It's basically just like a bluesy outro. And I can't believe at the studio, we hadn't played that for months. And even when we were about to hit record, I'm like, “I have no idea how this is going to start and end”. We did that in one tak,e and it sounds great. So, a very cool way to end the album. And once again, kudos to Bill. Very, very cool riff.
