Band Biographies: Misty Route

Misty Route is an alternative metal band that was formed in 2019 in Athens, Greece.

Their music is inspired by a mix of different musical genres and is mainly characterized by its dark ambient character and escalating groove. Touches of psychedelic rock are harmonically brought together with metal breakouts.

Misty Route officially launched in December 2021 with their debut full-length album entitled "Without A Trace". The album was mixed by Antonis Kontozoglou at 9800 Studios in Athens, Greece, and mastered by Göran Finnberg (Opeth, In Flames, Meshuggah, Arch Enemy, Soilwork, Hammerfall, Dark Tranquility, and more) at the mastering room AB in Sweden. Since its release, “Without A Trace” has received a large number of very positive reviews both nationally and internationally, while Misty Route continue adding great live shows to their track record year after year, such as their recent performance at Kyttaro live stage as special guests for the anniversary live of Μέμφις, or their headline show at An Club alongside Hidden In The Basement and Sevengill for the closing of “Without A Trace” era, as well as their presence at a number of well-known festivals in Greece and abroad during the last four years.

The band is currently preparing the release of its 2nd full-length album, with the title “Ethos”, which is planned for the 20th of March 2026, in digital, digipack CD and vinyl format via Bitume label [Recording: Antonis Kontozoglou – 9800 Studios, Mixing: George Prokopiou (Mother Of Millions & Poem), Mastering: Ektoras Tsolakis, Artwork: Manthos Stergiou].

Sonically, the 8-track album revolves around dark ambient soundscapes and emerging heavy grooves that often escalate to liberating metal breakouts. The lyrics focus on some of the biggest problems of our modern society, from a human being's point of view. The album's title "Ethos" comes from the Greek word "Ήθος", which encapsulates a person's values, morale, way of life, and behavioral characteristics. The album cover is inspired by the flame that we carry deep in our souls, which refuses to go out despite the challenges, symbolizing our last resort in the darkest of times that we are going through.

The band’s members are Lefteris Saatsakis on the guitar & vocals, George Armando Konomi on the bass, and Konstantinos Kaloudis on the drums. All three band members have short or longer experience playing either solo or participating in local bands in the past. Misty Route represents a common attempt for all of them to take things to the next level. The story begins when mutual friends of theirs introduced Lefteris and George to each other, who began jamming together and creating some first tunes. After a few auditions, Kostas Bacopoulos joined the band on the drums in October 2019 and completed the lineup that later recorded the debut album "Without A Trace". In September 2023, Konstantinos Kaloudis was the last to join the group, replacing Kostas on the drums and later recording alongside Lefteris and George the upcoming second album of Misty Route, “Ethos”.

Misty Route is a unique name selected to reflect the band’s music style as much as possible. It symbolizes the passage of human beings through life. The journey versus the destination. The deep thoughts and dilemmas of the wanderer and the unexpected at the other end of the mist, waiting to be discovered next. Listening to Misty Route, one can identify quite many different influences that are being combined in creative ways, leading to a unique, distinctive result. Basic influences that could be listed indicatively are Tool, Opeth, Deftones, Metallica, Godsmack, and Katatonia, just to name a few.
