Behind The Artworks: Mirrorcell - Long Nights In Lovescape (2026)

Nate Cell: When thinking of themes for Long Nights in Lovescape, I knew we needed something candid of two people embracing or sharing a romantic moment to tie in with the album title. Bloody Kisses by Type O Negative was one of the first references that came to mind. As well as having a distinct color/tone like Type 0 has with the continuous green color scheme. I started by looking up New Year’s Eve photos from the 1940’s-70’s so we could find something vintage looking. I don’t remember how, but I miraculously stumbled across a French photographer named Carole Bellaiche who shot a lot of candid street photography in France/Europe from the 80’s-00’s. Something about her work struck me & and when I found her photo that would later become the official album artwork, I knew instantly it was the one. There was a bit of a language barrier at firs,t but Carole was amazing to work with, and I am beyond thankful she accepted us with open arms to use her image for the album.

The original photo was black and white, so like I mentioned before about having a distinct color scheme, I had my good friend Kai Blackwell do some alterations to Carole’s photo, adding the distinct grungy green and album title on the image.

I miss when bands used to use actual photos of real moments or art pieces. It adds so much character and human emotion to a record. Makes the mind wonder more about what the band is trying to say and adds a level of depth to the overall product.

That was the main goal with what I was trying to go for with the cover artwork and themes behind Long Nights in Lovescape.
