Behind The Artworks: Rotgut - 8 oz Cantrip (2026)
@callowlilyart: I was inspired by retro horror and the timeless engraving style of Albrecht Dürer, it was a Frankenstein’s monster of collaborative ideas and effort. The concept was offered via ritual sacrifice by the band’s fearless leader FD, and conjured in blood, sweat, and ink by me (Lou a.k.a Callowlily) while listening to the EP on repeat.
Heavy black lines followed the tone set by the songs; flames formed to Slash and Burn, claws bursting through fingertips to the tune of Disgraced. I used my own hand as a reference, clutching a black spell candle that transformed into a beastly appendage grasping a Molotov cocktail. The style is gritty, the palette is heavy, and the visual impact is not unlike the music that inspired it—dark, heavy, all thrashing and gnashing teeth and claws.
