Interviews About Albums: HEIDEN - Cma (2026)
In this new interview, we sat down with the Czech Progressive Black Metal band HEIDEN to ask questions about their album "Cma".
1. What can you say about Cma?
"Cma" is our upcoming record, rooted in the hills of the White Carpathians. It focuses on the atmospheric space between rock and black metal. It is, without a doubt, our darkest and most layered album to date.
2. What is the meaning of the album name?
It means "Night" (or "Darkness") in our local dialect, but honestly, the literal meaning isn't as important as the atmosphere the word evokes. When I started writing the lyrics, I wanted a title that was short, stark, and rural—something to immediately trigger the listener's imagination.
3. Who is the composer of Cma?
The album is definitely a collective effort. We’ve known each other for over 20 years, and our writing process usually starts with one key motif that is then developed by the entire band. I believe this collaborative spirit is the crown jewel of our style.
4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?
Probably "Temnoplodec (Darkbearer)." Even if it’s not my personal "favorite" in a traditional sense, it delivers a potent, dark hit of our sound and provides a perfect insight into the album's atmosphere.
5. Is there a special message in Cma? If so, what is it?
"Cma" is a manifestation of a certain "natural nihilism." It’s a declaration of human insignificance and the transience of life within harsh, unforgiving conditions.
6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?
I’m certain we will disclose the themes behind the songs in the coming months, giving everyone a chance to dive deep. But if I were to cherry-pick one line, I’d mention this verse from the song "Bílý had (White Serpent)":
My wordless kin,
Measuring time with a forked tongue.
7. Which inspirations were important for Cma? (Musically, friends, family, etc.)
After grounding ourselves in the Carpathian environment with our previous album "Andzjel," we felt a strong urge to continue that journey. This time, however, we focused on more metaphysical and nihilistic themes, reflecting the real-life darkness we all have to face.
8. Anything to add?
I would like to thank you for your interest and for the chance to speak about "Cma" on your blog—it's highly appreciated. I’d love to invite everyone to give our new record a listen. Thank you.
