Interviews About Albums: Kröwnn - Santa Somnia (2026)
In this new interview, we sat down with the Italian Doom Metal band Kröwnn to ask questions about their album "Santa Somnia".
1. What can you say about this new CD?
Michele: It’s our most focused and powerful record so far. Shorter songs, tighter structures, less wasted
space. It shows exactly where Krownn are right now, musically and mentally.
2. What is the meaning of the CD name?
Michele: Santa Somnia is about stolen sleep and exhaustion, about something stronger than you draining
your energy. We imagined a dark saint people pray to, but that only takes and never gives back. It’s
metaphorical, but very real to us.
3. Which one is the composer of the CD?
Michele: The whole band. Ideas usually start from riffs or vocal lines I bring in, but everything is
developed together. It’s a collective effort.
4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?
Michele: Respawn. It represents the band coming back to life after years of inactivity. It’s about restarting
and moving forward. Plus, I really enjoy singing it.
5. Is there a special message on this CD? If there is what it is?
Michele: The core theme is “not sleeping”, both literally and metaphorically. We were inactive for years,
like trapped in a disturbed sleep. This record is about dying, waking up, and coming back stronger.
6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?
Michele: Not a specific line. What matters is the recurring idea of prayer and invocation. The album
works like a twisted hymn book dedicated to Santa Somnia.
7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone
you'd love to thank especially?
Michele: Doom metal in all its forms, especially ’90s and early 2000s bands. Horror-ish imagery,
videogames, dark fantasy, and everyday frustration also played a big role.
8. Something to add?
Michele: It’s a heavy record meant to be felt, not overanalyzed. Turn it up and let the riffs speak.
