Interviews About Albums: Scarab - Transmutation Of Fate (2026)

In this new interview, we sat down with the Egyptian Death Metal band Scarab to ask questions about their album "Transmutation Of Fate"

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

This EP is a sonic and spiritual manifestation of our 20-year journey as a band. It is much more than just "Egyptian Death Metal"; it is a ritualistic exploration of the soul. Musically, we’ve pushed into darker, more atmospheric territories while maintaining the raw, relentless brutality our fans expect. We are using "neoglyphic" scripts and ancient phonetic incantations to bridge the gap between our ancestral roots and a post-human future.

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

Transmutation of Fate is about the alchemical Magnum Opus. In alchemy, you turn base metals into gold; here, we are putting fate into a process of alchemical transmutation. It represents the idea that fate is not a fixed prison. By entering the "furnace" of self-reinvention, you can hack the code of your own destiny. It is a rebellion against stagnation and a declaration of spiritual sovereignty.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

This EP is a collective offering, a gathering of Scarab’s spirit over the last 20 years. While Sammy Sayed acted as the alchemist by shuffling the energies, arranging the compositions, and layering the harmonies, the raw musical "seeds" came from every brother who has been part of Scarab since 2006.

We reached into our vault and brought back "sacrificed" riffs and ideas that were neglected simply because we have such an abundance of material. For example, the outro in "Epistle of Secrets {Creators of III}" is a riff Sammy carried in his heart since his very first jam with the band in 2006, where he witnessed Al Sharif Marzeban and Tarek Amr writing it together in “Double Vision, Studio” in Manial, Giza, Egypt. Because we revived these moments, every member from our 20-year history has contributed something vital to this EP. It is a work of musical archaeology where two decades of shared energy have finally been unified.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

While the EP is meant to be experienced as a single transformative journey, if we had to choose one, it would be "Vow of the Sphinx {Abou El-Houl}." This song is the foundation of the entire EP. It represents the "awakening" of the Magus and the first step into the path of transformation. Because it deals with reviving "long forgotten hope" and "primal history," it perfectly mirrors our own process of reaching back into our history to bring these neglected musical seeds to life. It is the vow we made to our spirit and our craft, to conceal when the time isn’t right, and reveal when the time is right, and ultimately transmute our reality.

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?

The message is about Karmic Resolution. We realized that this EP was a phase we had to go through to clear the "knots" from our past. It was an energetic necessity to revisit these musical seeds, resolve that past karma, and untie the strings of the last 20 years so we can move forward with a clear spirit. By finishing what we started long ago, we are "transmuting" that history so it no longer weighs us down. It’s about honoring where we came from to fully step into where we are going.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

From the track "Vow of the Sphinx {Abou El-Houl}":

“Revive the past in your mind and live it again
All that was forgotten and lost in the flame
Come back to the earth and restore it again
Come back to me my spirit
By the staff of wisdom in the the hour of darkness, I fly
Enter me, through the gates of knowledge, my soul
Back to the earth, from another dimension, my sight
Follow me, into the path of might, my existence”

These lines may reflect the karmic resolution we are finally embracing, the realization that we must reach back into the fire of our own past to reclaim and restore the spirit that was always meant to lead us forward.

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

Our primary inspiration is the collective mysticism of our land and the internal warfare of the spirit. We draw heavily from the Androgyne Rebis of alchemy and the wisdom of the ancient Egyptian Neteru. We also want to thank our new family at Brutal Records for giving us the platform to unleash this vision, and our loyal global fanbase who have stood by us for two decades now. Also, the special thanks and mentions, and credits will all be written thoroughly in the physical release, so we won’t forget someone in particular right now.

8. Something to add?

We want to be clear: just because these songs are built from riffs written over a 20-year span does not mean they are "outdated." It is quite the absolute opposite. This manifestation needed time to come into being, and the frequency of these songs wasn't meant to be released until right now.

Rationally, if we had recorded these riffs years ago, they would have been different songs entirely. By waiting until 2026, we were able to apply the wisdom and the "alchemy of arrangement" that only comes with time and growth. The music has finally met the right moment to be born. We have cleared the past, and now we are ready for the future. 𓇳𓋴𓏏𓃩𓂓 Ka-Set-Re! Beyond, duality.
