Interviews: MISSCORE

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Heavy Rock band MISSCORE from Poland. Check out the interview and follow this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Was it planned or did it just come out like that?

The name MISSCORE was something I came up with together with our first guitarist back in 2010. It wasn’t a calculated decision - it just appeared naturally during those early conversations about music, identity, and not really fitting into any single box.

That guitarist passed away this month, which gives the name an entirely new weight for me now. There are so many memories tied to that time - first ideas, first rehearsals, first dreams. Over the years, the lineup changed, and the music evolved, but the name stayed, carrying pieces of that beginning with it.

Today, MISSCORE feels like a bridge between who we were and who we are now - a reminder of where this all started and the people who shaped it, even if they’re no longer here.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I could never decide whether I wanted something closer to Guano Apes mixed with Paramore, or maybe Bring Me The Horizon, Linkin Park, or Blessthefall. Or maybe Nightwish and Evanescence.

In the end, you can hear all of that in MISSCORE. I honestly can’t put this music into one clear box - even on our second album, you can hear the differences, for example, between F and Fire, or Freaks and What If.

I always wanted to play rock - just rock - and MISSCORE became the place where all of those influences could exist at the same time.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

No, we didn’t really know each other before the band. In most cases, it was the band itself that brought us together - and that’s actually true for almost all of us. Music was the common ground from the very beginning, and everything else came later.

4. Each band member’s favourite band?

Natalia (vocals): Bring Me The Horizon

Mateusz (bass/keys): Sevendust

Maciej (guitar): Avenged Sevenfold

Jarek (drums): Avenged Sevenfold

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

In the past, inspiration came from everyday situations — things that now feel almost trivial compared to what I write about today. Lately, it’s more about the worst days, metaphorical meanings, literary motifs, rain, and atmosphere. Recently, I started a song with the line “the morning coffee is already cold”, and it somehow turned into the saddest song I’ve ever written. I also caught myself thinking that the sun in winter smells like death — and that thought will probably end up on our fourth album.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last show was in Wrocław, and we’ll be back there again in March. It’s a nice, small venue right in the city centre. To be honest, these kinds of intimate places aren’t really where we feel the most comfortable - but I’ve made it my personal mission to keep breaking out of my comfort zone. Sometimes that’s exactly where the most interesting shows happen.

7. Where would you like to play?

I’d really love to return to Germany, especially to play for bigger clubs. The audience there is amazing - very open, engaged, and genuinely curious about new music. We last played in Germany at the gothic / dance-oriented Dark Dance Treffen, and the reception was incredibly warm. The crowd surprised us in the best possible way, and we promised we’d come back - so now we have to keep that promise. Ideally, that return would be the starting point for a wider European tour.

8. Who would you like to support?

We’d love to support bands that balance emotion with heaviness and atmosphere. Evanescence and Sevendust would feel like a very natural fit for us, both musically and in terms of audience. Architectsalso make a lot of sense with their modern, intense sound, while Nothing But Thieves connect with us on a more melodic and emotional level.

And if we’re talking about dreams, Bring Me The Horizon would be the ultimate one.

9. Who not?

Probably Metallica and other classic legacy bands. Not out of disrespect - their place in music history is undeniable - but our sound and energy belong to a different generation and a different conversation.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Yes, I still get nervous before going on stage. It hasn’t magically disappeared with experience. Sometimes half a drink helps take the edge off, sometimes it’s enough to just tell yourself “you’ve got this”.

What matters most is remembering why you’re there in the first place - because you’re doing something you love.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

I could keep repeating Bring Me The Horizon forever - and honestly, that wouldn’t be a lie. But if we’re talking about the very beginning, it was actually Guano Apes.
They were the band that made me want to sing in the first place.

12. What’s the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Someone once asked me if I would be his wife. :)

I asked him, "Where’s the ring?” Duh.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Sometimes I honestly think they must have something a little off in their heads if they choose to listen to us - and I mean that in the best possible way.

We even had five fans who listed us as their top band. We wanted to send them physical copies of our album, but they never replied. So apparentl,y our fans are loyal, a bit mysterious, and possibly allergic to emails. Which somehow fits perfectly.

14. What do you think of our site?

It feels like a proper underground spot - not overpolished, not fake, just focused on heavy music and the people behind it. You can tell it’s run by music nerds, not marketing people. That kind of support actually matters. We really appreciate that you give smaller bands real space instead of treating them like background noise.

15. Something to add?

If you’re curious, give the music a proper listen, come to a show, or just follow the chaos as it unfolds. With no promises, no expectations.
