Band Biographies: AMNÏON

Our former technical thrash metal band, active since the ’90s, eventually fell apart about five years ago. Gernot and Sanjai were the only remaining members, but refused to stop making music. So, we restarted with renewed energy as a pure metal rhythm project, driven solely by our passion for music, unrestricted by genres.

As the project expanded, we were fortunate to collaborate with amazing musicians, beginning with our longtime band brother Matthias Hechler (former guitarist of Crematory, one of Germany’s pioneering gothic metal bands blending death metal with darkwave and industrial influences).

We were thrilled when Jason Gobel (former Cynic guitarist and a true legend, not only revered in Florida and the U.S. but also enjoying a strong fanbase across Europe, known also for his work with Monstrosity, Portal, and Gordian Knot) reached out. Finally, singer Grant Petty from Texas joined the lineup and even visited us in Germany to write lyrics and track vocals together. This was an amazing experience for us, and Grant's enthusiasm and firm belief in AMNÏON continue to inspire us.

The chemistry was immediate, and the vibes flowed naturally. Everyone brought their individuality and different musical backgrounds. We trusted our collaborators completely, allowing them full creative freedom: “just play what feels right—no boundaries, no guidelines.” After a certain period filled with persistent effort, countless Zoom calls, demos, tracks, and performances, the album gradually took shape—a true creative wonder. The collaboration felt almost magical when everyone became completely immersed, and the music seemed to write itself.
