Behind The Artworks: Nixil/Drouth - Toward Dead Temples (Split) (2026)
Matt Stikker (Drouth): The artwork for this split was created as a collaboration between Ash Nix of Nixil and me. From a structural standpoint, we were looking for a way for us to share the cover in a way that reflected two simultaneous but not independent interpretations of the record's title. We settled on this presentation, with the towers interlocking like teeth, and specifically designed it such that it can be viewed at either orientation, and the logo corresponding to the artwork is right-side-up. The theme is made fairly clear by the title—the suffocating weight of rotting empire, the doomed idolatry of fascism, and the fundamental fragility of these structures despite their monumental appearance.
Ash Nix (Nixil): Our contribution to the album art is a pen and ink drawing by Ash Nix. It is a depiction of the chaotic rot and entropy that, in the near future, will befall the false temples and blind followers of the oppressor.
