Behind The Tracks: Cathedral In Flames - Push The Fire (Single) (2026)
Push The Fire is a fast, pulse-driven track powered by Gatsby’s bass and Barney’s tribal pounding,
topped with a sweeping chorus full of Ambra’s vocal acrobatics and Phil’s signature growl. The sound
was shaped and mixed by Brett Carruthers from the Canadian band Birthday Massacre.
It’s also the first Cathedral In Flames track to feature their new drummer, Barney Estrada. About joining
the band, he says:
“I’ve been hooked on gothic rock since I was a kid — I mean, how many drummers grow up idolizing Dr.
Avalanche? Funny thing is, I’d never actually played in a full-on gothic rock band. Until now. My taste has
broadened over the years, sure, but getting to live out a teenage dream with one of the best gothic rock
bands around? That’s something else. I’ve known Cathedral In Flames since the ’90s and always saw
them as something outside of time and place. Being part of this is both an honor and a huge motivation.
I just hope I can push things even further.”
Singer Phil Lee Fall adds:
“There’s a lot going on right now. The biggest shift is changing the producer from John Fryer to Brett
Carruthers. His take on our sound really clicked, and working with him just felt right on every level. Then
there’s the addition of a live drummer, which definitely lifted this track — we’ll see where it goes from
here. And finally, after seven years since getting back together, we’re starting to rehearse for live shows
again. Open your ears. Let the bats out. Set the belltower on fire. Crank it all the way up. Push The Fire.”
