Behind The Tracks: The Modern Age Slavery - No One Jokes At God (Single) (2026)
"No One Jokes at God" explores the struggles of the millennial generation, dealing with faith, fate, and the search for hope in dark times. It's about finding strength in vulnerability, acknowledging the pain of the past, and recognising that no one is immune to hardship - and that it is in these moments of despair that we turn to something greater, and no one dares to joke about the existence of God.
The story begins in 2022 when The Modern Age Slavery embarked on a new, exciting adventure, a trilogy of pieces of art in the death-metal scenario. The band's idea is to portray human self-imposed slavery along three different eras in men’s history. Indeed, the 2023 album, 1901 | The First Mother, released via Fireflash Records / Atomic Fire, represented the very first chapter of the trilogy. The album concept was inspired by writers and philosophers belonging to the so-called “modern age,” 1901 being the year in which Queen Victoria passed away.
That brings us to the second chapter of the trilogy, 1969 | No One Jokes at God, recalling the symbolic beginning of the hipster culture at Woodstock and the rapid switch of equality ideals to the actual worldwide decay that has inevitably followed.
The EP was produced by The Modern Age Slavery with engineering duties undertaken by the band’s guitar player, Luca Cocconi, along with Simone Sighinolfi (who also took care of mixing and mastering at Audiocore Studio, near Parma, Italy) and will be accompanied by two videos, the aforementioned title track, "No One Jokes at God" being the first.
