Behind The Tracks: Tooth Gore - Song For The Birdman (Single) (2026)

Song For The Birdman came into existence shortly after the release of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 (remake) on July 11th. The middle of a summer back in my hometown of Newquay, Cornwall. I’d been playing the game almost non-stop and absorbing the incredible soundtrack, which combines old pop-punk classics with newer jams (a personal favourite being East of the 405 by Strawberry Fuzz), and this is what inspired me to write the most nostalgic skater pop-punk anthem of all time, fit for any Tony Hawk game.

This track was recorded with producer George Perks, who also played bass guitar on the track, as well as drummer Kieran Leigh, who channeled all of their own pop-punk influence into this super energetic track. The mission statement was always to create a song that Tony Hawk could twist out to, but we also weren’t afraid to get weird with things. A personal favourite quirk of this song is in the second verse, the line: ‘I pledge allegiance to the stray cats of the underground’ sounds muffled. This effect was achieved by me singing into an old-timey telephone in the vocal booth. The resulting song is fittingly as catchy as it is odd.

The artwork was made by David Geralao (@davkgerart on Instagram), who is an incredible artist and all-around human that I met at my first show in the Philippines. I commissioned him to create a rad skater with the head of a hawk. I don’t think the brief could’ve been fulfilled any better, and thus the literal Birdman lives.
