Interviews About Albums: Crown Of Anguish - Giants Of The Twisting Sun (2025)
In this new interview, we sat down with the UK Epic Death Metal band Crown Of Anguish to ask questions about their album, "Giants Of The Twisting Sun".
1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?
Hi there! Our new album, “Giants of the Twisting Sun” is a musical progression from our last
album. This record expands the compositions and mixes death metal and “non- metal”
instrumentation. Most of the tracks on this album push the 10-minute mark as opposed to
shorter songs we have done in the past. I love the sound of different stringed instruments from
around the world, so we try to incorporate a lot of different sounds. I think we achieved this on
the new record.
2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?
Snakes and serpents and how different civilisations have worshipped them - is a part of the
theme for the lyrics of this album, so the title of the album reflects that.
3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?
Dan and I work on all the music, and Ali writes all the lyrics when we are done. Working on the
compositions probably took the most time when making this album, as even when all the riffs are
written, we spent ages making sure everything is in the right place, and all the ideas expand
musically to where we want them to go
4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?
I think “ Kingdom Bejewelled” is a great example of our style - flowing seamlessly between
beautiful acoustic parts and brutal crushing riffs.
5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?
I think Ali’s lyrics speak for themselves, and he puts an insane amount of detail into them - they
make for very interesting reading.
6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?
The CD release comes with some additional liner notes that cover the overarching theme of the
lyrics album. Get it and check it out!
7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone
you'd love to thank especially?
Musically, I have recently drawn a lot of inspiration from the music of Al Di Meola and Allan
Holdsworth. I love the mysterious and ethereal overtones in their music and try to bring some
of those ideas into the death metal world. We, of course, would like to thank all our families and
friends for all their support on our endless musical quest.
