Interviews About Albums: Without Mercy - Infinite Loss (2026)

In this new interview, we sat down with the Canadian Groove Metal band Without Mercy to ask questions about their album, "Infinite Loss".

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

Infinite Loss is a snapshot of who Without Mercy is right now. It’s three songs, but each one carries a different weight. We stepped away from routine, isolated ourselves, and committed fully to the recording process. It forced honesty. No filler, no chasing trends, just refining what felt real and hitting it as hard as we could.

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

Infinite Loss represents the idea of being hunted, over and over again, with no resolution. It’s not just physical, it’s mental. It’s about cycles you can’t break, pressure that doesn’t let up, and the weight of that repetition.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

Without Mercy writes collaboratively. Ideas can start with one person, but nothing survives unless the whole band believes in it. Every song on this EP was shaped through that process and pushed further with the input of our producer.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?
Glass.

It captures a lot of what this EP is about. There’s a strong identity in the riffs, a clear influence, but it still sounds like us. And the outro is one of those moments where everything locks in and feels bigger than the parts.

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?

The message is about confrontation. There’s no hiding in these songs. Whether it’s being hunted, controlled, or forced to face yourself, the EP lives in that tension. It’s about recognizing those pressures instead of pretending they aren’t there.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

Rather than isolating a single line, the themes carry more weight as a whole:

Infinite Loss deals with the feeling of being relentlessly pursued
The Saint reflects control and submission to something larger than yourself
Glass explores identity through reflection, distortion, and perception

It’s less about one quote and more about the atmosphere those ideas create.

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

Musically, there are clear influences from bands that push rhythm and texture, like Meshuggah and Alluvial, but we filtered that through our own lens.

Beyond that, the biggest influence was the situation itself. Post-COVID instability, losing multiple jam spaces, and having to rebuild from scratch forced us to commit in a different way.

We also had a producer who challenged everything. Not always comfortable, but necessary. That push helped shape the final result.

8. Something to add?

This EP was built on commitment. We set a deadline before the songs were finished, left home, and lived inside the recording process until it was done.

It’s self-funded, self-released, and completely ours.

No safety net. No shortcuts.

Just Without Mercy.
