Interviews: Cañon
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Rock band Cañon from Colombia. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Was it planned or spontaneous?
“Cañón,” which translates to “Cannon” in English, represents the power and intensity of
our music. It wasn’t overthought—it just felt right from the beginning. The name captures
the energy and force we aim to deliver in every song.
2. Why did you choose to play this genre?
We’ve always been passionate about music—especially rock—since we were kids. Our
heroes come from that world, and the emotional intensity and raw energy of rock is
something we deeply connect with. It’s the genre that allows us to express what we feel
and truly connect with our audience.
3. Did you know each other before forming the band?
Yes. We’re all from a small city in Colombia called Bucaramanga. Three out of the four
members had previously played together in another band, where we started shaping our
sound and musical identity.
4. Each band member’s favorite band?
Jairo: NOFX
Sierra: Alice in Chains
Vásquez: The Smashing Pumpkins
Hernán: Cream
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Life itself—love, loss, joy, and everyday experiences. We channel real emotions and
moments into our music.
6. Where was your last gig?
About five months ago, we played a private show. We have been mostly focusing on
producing and recording our own material so we can truly generate an audience of our
own
7. Where would you like to perform?
As many places as possible. It’s always been our dream to take our music around the
world and connect with different audiences everywhere.
8. Who would you like to collaborate with?
We’re open to collaborating with artists from different genres and backgrounds. We believe
great music comes from creative diversity.
9. Anyone you wouldn’t collaborate with?
Not really. We’re open-minded and willing to explore collaborations with all kinds of artists.
10. Have any of you experienced stage fright? Any advice for beginners?
Of course—we’re human. Those pre-show nerves are part of the experience. In fact, adrenaline can push you to give your best performance. Our advice: trust yourself, prepare
well, and embrace the moment. Confidence comes from knowing you’ve done the work.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
We draw inspiration from classic and modern rock bands that emphasize authenticity,
energy, and musicality. Bands that create a strong emotional connection with their
audience have influenced us the most.
12. What’s the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you?
We haven’t had anything too unusual yet—but we’re ready for it when it happens.
13. What do you think of your fans?
They’re everything to us. Their energy, support, and connection to our music is what keep
us going and pushing forward.
14. What do you think of our site?
It’s a great platform for discovering and supporting artists. Spaces like this are essential for
keeping the music scene alive and growing.
15. Anything else you’d like to add?
We’re just getting started. Stay tuned—there’s a lot more music and energy coming your
way.
