Interviews: Los Falsos Dandys
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Punk Rock band Los Falsos Dandys from Colombia. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan it, or did it just come out like that?
The name came from our concept of “false elegance.” We present ourselves on stage dressed
like dandies—hats, jackets, ties—pretending to be something we’re not. It’s a satirical way
to represent our identity as a band, mixing appearance with rebellion.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
We chose punk rock and ska punk because they allow us to express ourselves freely, with
energy, honesty, and attitude. It’s a genre where we can talk about personal feelings, social
issues, and also have fun without filters.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Yes, some of us already knew each other from previous bands or friendships. The project
started when Noé invited Gyo to sing, and then the rest of the members joined organically.
4. Each band member's favourite band?
It’s a hard question because we like different kinds of music. But, as a band, we share
influences like Sum 41, Green Day, The Misfits, 2 Minutos, and Mojiganga.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Our songs are inspired by personal experiences, emotions like love and heartbreak, and also
social criticism. Most lyrics are written by Noé, but everyone contributes creatively.
6. Where was your last gig?
We’ve been actively playing in the Medellín and Valle de Aburrá scene; our last gig was in
Kingz Rock Pub in Bello city
7. Where would you like to act?
We would love to perform at punk and ska festivals across Colombia and America, reaching
bigger audiences and connecting with more people.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
We’d love to collaborate with bands from the punk and ska scene, especially those that
share a similar energy and message.
9. Whom not?
We prefer not to collaborate with artists who don’t align with our values or authenticity as a
band.
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on
how to beat that?
Stage fright is normal, especially at the beginning. Our advice is to focus on enjoying the
moment, connect with your bandmates, and remember that the audience is there to have a
good time with you.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Bands like Green Day, Sum 41, The Misfits, 2 Minutos, and Mojiganga have been key
inspirations for our sound and attitude.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
The strangest question a fan has ever asked us is about the woman in the image for our song
“Gótica Culona” (Gothic Big Butt), asking if she is a prostitute, and how much it costs to be
with her.
13. What do you think of your fans?
We see our fans as part of the experience. We love the energy they bring to our shows and
how they connect with our music.
14. What do you think of our site?
We think it’s a great platform to support emerging bands and share music with new
audiences.
15. Something to add?
We are Los Falsos Dandys, a band of five friends making music with energy, satire, and
honesty. Thanks for supporting independent music and giving space to new voices.
