Track By Tracks: The Fair Attempts - Null Guide (2026)

1. Nothing's Gonna Be Alright:

On the surface, it's an album starter banger. An introduction to our sound and what we do: Industrial Rock! At the deeper level, it lays down a description of the kind of world I see around me. But I want to bring out a message in it. Don't care what people expect from you. It's your life and your will. Do what you like and don't let this world poison your mind.

2. Freedom's Just a Word You Say:

Description of the societal self-betrayal. Normalcy bias on a mass scale. War is peace. And everyone just follows along and lulls themselves to sleep over how they are morally superior to the others. We start from freedom. To think you're free, you're already lying to yourself, and you know it. Here we go hard. Very much a nod to the 1994 NIN spirit.

3. Ghost Within:

Beware: The chorus is a bit of an earworm. Definitely a hit song of the album. Ghosts might exist, but at least one of them is haunting inside all of our heads. I wanted to write a song about negative inner dialogue that paints its host’s reality black. Ghost Within represents the more melodic and straightforward side of the Null Guide album.

4. Never Again:

Personal feelings right after my dear old friend had exited this world. Death becomes more and more of a thing as we age, and lately, my thoughts have been very much there. Nature of existence. It has a nice beat and flow. One of my personal favourites. It's all about the mood.

5. It's All Fraud:

I've long had this image in mind... You know the theme of wolf in sheep's clothing? But really, what I see way more of is sheep in wolves' clothing. So this is what I think when I see a dragon tattoo on someone. Are you wearing that dragon, or is the dragon wearing you? Do you appreciate the dragon? Can your mind handle the dragon? The song is about the false gods we hold and the fake morality we use to justify our actions. And it's very danceable.

6. Shadowplay:

Slower and heavier. I think this has a blend of very classic TFA elements in a good way. This is about our shared delirium we've delved into with our existence. We are lost and without a direction. It seems hopeless.

7. Anniversary of Our Destruction:

There is a very personal story attached to the song. One year, our wedding anniversary was a lovely, romantic day with a twist. So many things broke that day. Together, we laughed about the destruction the day left behind, and thus, that special day became the ‘Anniversary of Our Destruction’. Later, I wrote this song as a New Year's message. It reminds me each year that we're walking through a path of destruction.

8. Null Guide:

The theme song for the album is the reason why we went with this album cover. It’s a dark, atmospheric track that plays with the idea of something ancient and inhuman bleeding into a digital world. The “Old Ones” feel less like literal beings and more like forces. Forgotten instincts, buried fears, or even systems we’ve created that come back to haunt us through technology and our own minds.

9. The Curse:

The Curse is built around the feeling of being consumed from the inside. Every attempt to fight back only makes things worse, until the pain turns outward as pure, unfiltered hatred. Not just anger, but the result of being drained and overtaken. By the end, that hatred isn’t something to escape anymore. It’s become part of the narrator’s identity. I feel very much toward a certain special person. I bet we all have at least one of these people in our lives.

10. Inward:

I like to end my albums, or at least include one instrumental, if I can. This would be it. A deep, meditative and rhythmic journey to go through before a new cycle of the album starts. Or something to drift away with.
