Behind The Tracks: AVALAND - Destiny Calls (Single) (2026)

Adrien says, “Destiny Calls” began taking shape during the COVID period. At that time, I wasn’t sure whether it would become an Avaland song, but it quickly became clear that it belonged to this universe. It’s an energetic prog-power track, rooted in the 90s/2000s traditions of Angra, Symphony X, and Stratovarius, enriched with a surprising theatrical and narrative twist that anchors it fully in Avaland’s storytelling.

Regarding the arrangements, Lucas and Jeff did a fantastic job! The guitars changed in a heavier way, adding some speed transitions and sharp riffs. Meanwhile, Jeff had some nice ideas for the lyrics and vocal melodies, so I gave him free rein for this song. The result was these two different mind-sticking choruses, and this operatic play between Madie and me.

Concerning the lyrics, Jeff needed a bit more info about the story I wanted to tell, and this song made us think a lot about “how to introduce the first plot of this new chapter”. And to be honest, he made it so much better than I could. That shows the crucial role the guys had for this new album; “Sail On” and “Destiny Calls” perfectly represent this synergy we built for 5 years.

About the lore, in this new track, we learn a bit more about Avaland’s mythology and the God of Time. Writing all this “beyond the music” part brought a whole new motivational object for me. It took a little time for me to understand it, but now we have it. I just cannot imagine writing a song for Avaland without finding its place in our lore. And we are incredibly lucky to work with Stan W. Decker, who brings our stories to life with his impressive artworks!

We are really impatient to release the full album “Chemical Poetry” on October 30, and show our fans, first ones and newcomers, this brand new epic chapter. I think, for each member of the band, that it is our most personal, intimate and gigantic album so far.
