Interviews About Albums: Maximum Robot - Away With The Fairies (2026)
In this new interview, we sat down with the UK Rock/Grunge band Maximum Robot to ask questions about their album, "Away With The Fairies".
1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?
Our new album has 10 songs, and it’s 45 minutes long. It is out on streaming
platforms from the 15th of May. I can listen to it all from start to finish and
never want to stop it anywhere. I just get immersed in it and love every song.
There are some things about the production that I would change, but I’m
definitely happy with all the songs. Also, it’s all radio-friendly, and it contains
no strong language. Apart from one line, maybe in the second verse of
“Rainbow”.
2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?
The meaning of the title is, fortunately, pretty easy to explain. The album is
called “Away With The Fairies.” This means daydreaming or not
concentrating on what you are doing. That’s how I live my life. I would be a
very bad brain surgeon. During the operation, I would stop concentrating and
start daydreaming about something else. The patient would wake up
with no brain. Like me!
3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?
In this band, the singer and guitarist write the songs. I think that’s very
common. The bass player and drummer make it sound good, though. In our
case, they improve it a lot, that’s for sure!
4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?
If I had to pick one song to throw into the dustbin of history, it would be ...
Only joking! If I had to pick one I prefer out of every song, after a lot of
pontification, I would say the first track, “A World of My Own”. I really love the
outro. It’s got a long instrumental at the end, which is fun to play and a bit
different. I like the verses and choruses too. The intro is a bit pants, but
whatever. I’ve also got to say I like every single song on this album!
5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?
There are many messages in this album, not one, and they are not special.
You should pick up on the lyrics encouraging us to look after the planet and each
other. Nobody listens to me anyway, so many people will just carry on
smashing the world up and smashing each other up, but whatever. I’d rather
be hated for complaining about it than liked for saying “just do what you
want”.
6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?
There are so many lines I really like. It may well be all a load of rambling
gibberish to somebody else, but I like it anyway. I’ll share this line from the
song “Anxiety”. However, without the music to go with it, it just sounds like a
rubbish poem, but in the song, it sounds better. You’ll have to listen to it
yourself to be the judge of that! - “I guard my isolation like a crown, I hide my
tears with make like a clown” - I just hope somebody else hasn’t got those or
similar words in a song that I haven’t heard. That would be annoying!
7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or
friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?
Honestly, I wanted this album to be as pop as possible because we have
previous albums with way too much swearing and controversial lyrics. Before, I was trying to be dangerous and cool, but that makes it impossible to get
your music on the radio. This time, I wanted to stick to just cheesy and
pedestrian lyrics. Fortunately, there are some bands that I listen to a lot that
don’t have much offensive content, such as Battle Beast, Ghost, and
Amaranth. These influences really helped this time. We’ve done enough
controversial songs, and nobody ever hears them!
8. Something to add?
I would like to add that we would be delighted if somebody who reads this
interview would follow us on social media, and better still, if they message us
and say something like “hey, I read your interview in Breathing the Core!”
That would be fantastic. We like chatting to people who have checked us
out. We’re not one of those bands that just completely ignore you if you say
something. We also have a lot of merch, and much of it is free to our
followers. If you’re interested, check it out and message us, and thanks for
reading this interview!
