Interviews About Albums: My Own Will - Misery (2026)
In this new interview, we sat down with the American Death Metal/Hardcore band My Own Will to ask questions about their album, "Misery".
1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?
The new EP, Misery, is the best representation of the band. We decided to believe in ourselves and make music without anyone else’s input on the music but the four of us. Max even did all the engineering for the EP.
2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?
There is no hidden meaning or grand ideas in this EP. Misery is about what the music was making us feel when we were writing it. It’s about aggression and anger, which is exactly how it sounds. It’s also a little bit about the video game Doom, hahaha.
3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?
This EP is different. All of the music, whether it’s the guitar riffs, drum parts and lyrics, was all written together.
4. If you have to pick one song, which one would you pick?
I think if there is one song to listen to, it is the title track Misery. It sums up what My Own Will is. It sounds mean, thick riffs and breakdowns.
5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?
The only message this EP has is that this is who My Own Will is now. We are sticking to who we are, and we want our fans to enjoy it.
6. Are there some lyrics that you´d love to share?
I think the lyrics that I like the most off the EP are “I'm not trapped in here with you. You are trapped in here with me”. I think this is the mindset of the whole band.
7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thanks specially?
Our biggest inspiration for this EP is wanting to make music that we can play live. It gives us and the fans that oh shit feeling when everything hits, and everyone just reacts. As a band, we just want that feeling all the time.
