Interviews: Iyashicore
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Anime Metalcore project Iyashicore from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan it, or did it come out just like that?
It was inspired by one of my band Disconnected Souls' tracks: Iyashikei. It's a Japanese word meaning "healing media" - fiction that soothes the soul. So I took the "iyashi" part (healing), and bolted "core" on the end, to represent the metalcore roots that inspired its sound.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
I've been steeped in metalcore for over 10 years now, with a special love for bands that incorporate electronic elements, such as I See Stars and Dead by April. Being able to write this kind of music started with my band Disconnected Souls, and iyashicore really let me expand my creativity with tracks that wouldn't fit the vibe of DS.
3. Each band member's favourite band?
It's hard to nail down an absolute favourite band, but the most consistent artist with the most tracks in my regular rotation would be If I Were You. However, my absolute favourite album ever would be New Demons by I See Stars.
4. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
There's an American band called Desolate that writes tracks inspired by anime and manga, with a focus on the soul-crushing emotional side of things. I wanted to do something similar.
Regarding my Vocaloid releases, the artists Yuyoyuppe and Utsu-P showed me that you can absolutely use a Vocaloid to write hard-hitting metal.
5. Whom would you like to feature with?
I think because they inspired me, I'd like to work with the guys from Desolate, even if it's just a vocal feature.
6. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Someone once asked if they could use one of my tracks for an AMV they were making. Of course, I said yes - I feel like that's a major milestone for any artist.
7. What do you think of your fans?
I appreciate them sticking around to listen to my tracks about my special interest anime and manga.
8. What do you think of our site?
I appreciate you putting a spotlight on smaller artists. In the current music climate, every little thing helps in getting an artist noticed.
9. Something to add?
There's a lot in the iyashicore pipeline at the moment, ready for release over the next couple of years. I have a lot of things near and dear to my heart, and I want to get out there.
