Track By Tracks: DROMOS - Failing Light (2026)
Our music carries a certain weight and feel, as do our lyrics. We don’t want to go too deep into the lyrics; however, there are some themes in the songs we can open up.
1. My Final Tomb:
The opening track, My Final Tomb, sets the tone of the album with twelve minutes of ponderously heavy, gradually evolving doom in the style of Celestial Season or early Pallbearer. Heavy, yet with plenty of texture to expand the soundscape.
The lyrical themes of My Final Tomb are a reflection on the burden of past actions, regret, and isolation.
2. Death is Silence:
At the album’s midpoint, Death is Silence, the sound of transcendent beauty hits through minimal means with a single repeated phrase allowed to breathe and evolve naturally until hitting a final form that brings to mind Patrick Walker’s work.
Based on a poem originally written in Portuguese, the lyrics explore the connection between the body and the mind and the feeling of collapse.
3. Sinking:
Our longest song on the album, Sinking Horizon, delivers twenty minutes of sonic bliss and obliteration suspended in amber, a place where meditation becomes a monument whilst distortion blooms like rust.
The lyrical themes are around loss, exhaustion, and feeling lost with a glimmer of hope.
