Track By Tracks: Human Within - Behind The Mask (2026)

1. Diary of pain:

The dark opening track,

A story about Jack the Ripper based on Walter Sickert, an artist who was briefly one of the suspects. The song features Madeleine Liejestam from the band Eleine in the bridge.

2. Behind the mask:

The title track,

It's about the mask we project to society, hiding how we are truly feeling on the inside. This song specifically is about depression. Originally written in 4/4 until Aaron suggested I try it in 6/8.

3. Leverage:

A straightforward rocker,

A bit of a rebellion song, about standing up to oppression. All the guitar parts with wah on them are taken from the demo, as i couldnt capture the same feel when trying to recreate it for the final version.

4. Save Me:

A modern rock song with an epic chorus, musically inspired by what I was listening to when I first started playing guitar around the early 2000's

When Adam sent me the demo lyrics, for the chorus he didn't have words as such it was just the chant that you can hear underneath the words. I went back to him and said man i really want a chorus you can sing to for this one, so he went back and produced what you currently hear.

5. Face the fear:

Another straightforward rocker,

As the name suggests its about dealing with the fears we have, whatever they may be. This one was the most basic musically, and I felt it was lacking a bit, so I added in the piano and synth parts that can be heard to give it a bit more.
