Track By Tracks: Maximum Robot - Away With The Fairies (2026)
1. A World Of My Own:
Blurb: This is the opening track. It kicks off the album with an assault of
distorted riffing and chaotic drum beats. The song then takes the listener on an unusual journey
of various musical moods, ranging from mellow, clean guitars with gentle melody to angry
distortion and fast, heavy drum beats. It encompasses the full range of Maximum Robot’s energy
levels. The lyrics explore the futility or feeling of futility in trying to save the world.
2. Eternia:
Blurb: This song combines an explosion of blistering riffs with catchy tunes and melody.
The lyrics criticise the madness of human behaviour on Earth, raging against pollution,
environmental destruction and wars while comparing it to the fantasy idea of living on another
planet. Eternia is the planet that He-man lives on in the Master of the Universe cartoons, books
and films.
3. Rainbow:
Blurb: This song is a tribute to the Greenpeace photographer Fernando Pereira, who
died on the ship the Rainbow Warrior on the 10th of July 1985, when it was bombed by the French
secret service. The French military was at the time testing nuclear weapons in the South Pacific, and Greenpeace sent the ship to protest about it and stop it.
4. All This Death:
Blurb: This is the last song on the album. Lyrics relate to the theme of escape
from a pending disaster and feeling unwanted. It takes direct inspiration from one of Gazza’s
favourite films. The 1992 film Bram Stoker’s Dracula. The last line in the song, and therefore the
whole album, “Take me away from all this death”, is a quote from the film. It is what Mina Murray, played by Winona Ryder, says when she drinks Dracula’s blood. Although it sounds better when
she says it.
