Behind The Artworks: Hypnosaur - Afterlife (2026)
Farf: I was always a fan of medieval paintings of the Last Judgment – work of painters such as Bosch or Memling. I worship their craftsmanship and their imagination, especially when it comes to Bosch. The guy did stuff that could easily be something straight out of sci-fi movies - 500 years ago!
The idea to create a triptych for the cover of the next album came to me sometime around the release of our last EP in 2024. I think that sometime around that moment, we were already heavily working on the song “Afterlife,” which was brought by Bart even before that (at least in an initial form). The concept of combining the last-judgment-like painting with the title “Afterlife” was the best combination we could think of – not only does the title and theme correspond with the picture perfectly, but also it’s “Afterlife” after “Doomsday” (our first LP)! So, we settled on that idea really quickly, and when the album was about to be recorded last summer, we contacted Rafał Wechterowicz (who does all our covers) and had an online brainstorming session with him. We agreed on some ideas of things to put on the cover – some easter eggs and fun stuff to search for, as usual. He started working on it sometime in the fall, and we had the cover ready soon after. I’m really proud that he already said and wrote multiple times that this is his favorite album cover he created in more than 20 years of his career as an artist!
