Behind The Tracks: 53 West - Waiting Game (Single) (2026)
Waiting Game was born from a deeply personal moment, that fragile stretch of time when a family is told their loved one is reaching the end of life, and all that’s left to do is wait. In that space, everything slows down. The family shared stories, memories, and the small but defining moments that made up a lifetime with that person. The song captures that emotional limbo: the tenderness, the heaviness, and the strange beauty of those final days spent together. It’s less about loss and more about honouring the life that’s being remembered, turning that waiting period into something meaningful rather than empty.
Once the lyrics were written, the band stepped into the collaborative phase that has become central to our process. Each member shaped their part — refining phrasing, tightening structure, and building the musical landscape that now surrounds the story.
Recording at Steelworks Studio brought the song to its full form, with the sessions following our usual approach of working closely together, pushing ideas further, and elevating the track beyond the original demo. What you hear in the final recording is the result of that shared focus: a song that carries emotional weight, musical clarity, and the collective voice of the band.
