Her purpose is terrifying: feeding on the blood of unbaptized newborns. To protect their children, families relied on rituals and symbolic objects such as salt, amulets, and sharp or jagged tools. Legend says the creature would be compelled to stop and count them before entering, but being unable to count beyond seven, she would endlessly start over, preventing the sacrifice from taking place.

Rather than simply retelling the legend, Stefania Sistu uses the Surbile as a symbolic figure that transcends folklore. The creature becomes a representation of the fears, anxieties, and emotional wounds that silently enter our lives, feeding on our fragilities and growing stronger when left unchallenged. In this sense, Surbile is not only a song about an ancient myth, but also an exploration of the darker corners of the human psyche.

Musically, the track reinforces this atmosphere through a powerful blend of modern rock intensity and dark, cinematic textures. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Evanescence, Within Temptation, and Lacuna Coil, Stefania balances emotional vulnerability with strength, creating a soundscape where folklore and introspection coexist naturally.
