Interviews: Blade Of Thorns
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Industrial Rock band Blade Of Thorns from England. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Was it planned or spontaneous?
Honestly, the band name came to me in a dream. I woke up with it stuck in my head, and it instantly felt powerful and meaningful. Sometimes the best ideas aren’t planned — they just hit you out of nowhere, and this one felt like it was meant to be.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
I’ve always been drawn to heavy bass lines, emotional depth, and the intensity this genre brings. There’s something powerful about music that can hit people emotionally while still carrying real energy and aggression. We wanted to create music that people don’t just hear — they actually feel.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
No, we all came together naturally over time. I founded the band about six years ago and started searching for the right people.
I met Adrian through Facebook after his wife replied to an ad I posted and told me her husband was an incredibly talented bass player.
Nick, our singer, came through BandMix — his partner encouraged him to answer my ad and get back into music.
And Anoop was someone I’d seen online years earlier. I came across a video of him drumming on Facebook and was blown away by his skill. Eventually, we connected, and getting him into the band honestly felt like a blessing.
4. What are each band member’s biggest musical influences?
Adrian’s biggest influence is Prince.
For me, as a guitarist, David Gilmour from Pink Floyd has had the biggest impact on my playing and songwriting.
Nick is heavily inspired by Incubus.
And Anoop draws a lot from Sevendust.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
For my wife and me, songwriting started long before the band existed. We’ve always loved creating music together. She’s especially passionate about lyrics and arrangement, and many of the songs come from deeply personal and painful experiences in her life, which gives the music real honesty and emotion.
For me as the guitarist, the music always comes first. I’m driven by melodies, atmosphere, and emotional pull — the sound creates the feeling, and the lyrics grow from that.
For Nick, songwriting is a cathartic release. He’s inspired by observing life and the different ways people deal with struggles, emotions, and experiences.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last show was at the O2 Academy in Islington, which was an incredible experience for us.
7. Where would you love to perform one day?
Wembley Stadium. I say it to the band all the time — I genuinely believe we’ll get there one day.
8. Who would you love to collaborate or feature with?
Tool would be a dream collaboration for us. Guns N’ Roses would also be incredible.
9. Is there anyone you wouldn’t want to work with?
Honestly, no. We don’t carry negativity toward other musicians. We’re open-minded and believe great music can come from unexpected collaborations.
10. Have any of you struggled with stage fright? Any advice for beginners?
I actually love being on stage — that’s where I feel most alive. The only nerves come from technical issues or live sound problems because those things can affect the performance.
For beginners, I’d say just keep performing. Confidence comes with experience, and the more you play live, the more natural it becomes.
11. Which bands have inspired you the most?
For me, it’s bands like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Soundgarden, and Stone Temple Pilots.
Nick is inspired by Queens of the Stone Age, Incubus, and Linkin Park.
Adrian’s influences include Prince, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Rage Against the Machine.
Anoop draws inspiration from Sevendust, Metallica, and Iron Maiden.
12. What’s the weirdest thing a fan has asked you for?
We’re still early in the journey, so thankfully nothing too strange yet!
13. What do you think of your fans?
We’re only two gigs in, so we’re still building our audience, but the support we’ve received so far has meant everything to us. Anyone who connects with the music and comes out to support us — we appreciate them massively.
14. What do you think of our site?
It’s a really interactive platform and a great place for discovering new music and underground artists. Spaces like this are important for helping bands connect with listeners.
15. Anything else you’d like to add?
We play what we feel. Everything we create comes from a real place emotionally, and that honesty is at the heart of our music.
