Interviews: Richie Cross
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Rock/Punk artist Richie Cross from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan it or came out just like that?
Richie Cross is just me—no alter, no mask in the name itself. It felt right to put my name on it because the songs are personal. Everything I write comes from lived experience, so I didn’t want to hide behind anything. The music speaks for itself.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Punk and alternative rock always felt honest to me. It’s not about perfection—it’s about truth. That mix of energy and message is what drew me in. You can say something real and still make it hit hard.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
This is a solo project, but I do collaborate with other musicians. It’s less about a fixed lineup and more about building the right sound for each song.
4. Each band member’s favourite band?
For me, bands like Rise Against, Sum 41, Sex Pistols, and The Clash have always stuck with me. They balance message and melody in a way that lasts.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
A lot of it comes from observation—watching how people move through life, including myself. There’s a constant tension between awareness and distraction, and that shows up in my writing.
6. Where was your last gig?
Right now, I’ve been focused on recording and building the project, but live shows are the next step. That’s where this is all headed.
7. Where would you like to act?
Anywhere there’s a real crowd. Small rooms, big stages—it doesn’t matter. I just want that connection where people actually feel the music.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
I’m open to collaborations that feel natural. Someone who brings their own identity and doesn’t just blend in.
9. Whom not?
Anyone who treats it like a formula. If it’s not real, it doesn’t belong in what I’m doing.
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
It’s always there to some degree. The key is not trying to eliminate it—just channel it. Once you start performing, it turns into energy.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Rise Against is a big one. Also bands that balance aggression with melody and meaning—those are the ones that stick.
12. What’s the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Nothing too wild yet—but I take that as a sign we’re just getting started.
13. What do you think of your fans?
I appreciate anyone who connects with the music. Especially the ones who actually listen to what’s being said—that’s what matters most.
14. What do you think of our site?
It’s great to see platforms that still support artists and give them a space to tell their story. That’s important.
15. Something to add?
There’s more coming. This is just the beginning.
