Behind The Tracks: Thorne - A Maimed Melody (Single) (2026)

A Maimed Melody was the first ‘THORNE’ track ever written. The initial idea was carved out between Matt & Pete way back in the first few weeks of THORNE being a band and Pete returning to the UK. It was the first song we properly worked on as well, once we had recruited Alfie & Joe. The process for A Maimed Melody was almost like our first trial run of working together in a room as a unit. Where the song speaks about creative burnout and re-centring yourself as an artist, this felt like it resonated within the writing process in the room. The track's bones were there, but the song came alive once everyone played it together in the room and began offering suggestions during the process. The changes that happen when going from the demo to the final track are what define the 'THORNE' sound.

 

From there, we brought the track further to life alongside Daly George at The Ranch. What we thought would be one of our more mellow songs evolved into something larger than life, ebbing and flowing with the changes and textures added in that studio session.
