Interviews About Albums: Caelestia - Revelations In Black (2026)
In this new interview, we sat down with the Greek Death Metal band Caelestia to ask questions about their album, "Revelations In Black".
1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?
“Revelations In Black” is the milestone of
the band’s musical transformation. This new chapter follows a significant period of
refinement, moving away from our symphonic origins to embrace a guitar-driven
identity that merges the intensity of melodic black metal with the mechanical
accuracy of modern death metal. The album is due for worldwide release on July 24 th,
via Eclipse Records.
2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?
The name “Revelations In Black” is inspired
by the dark fantasy & horror literature of American writer C. R. Jacobi, of whom our
lyricist and singer (Lordwinter) is very fond. The title track deals with a similar dark
horror & love story, and the extreme tempo and riffs of the track seem to fit in very
well with the concept.
3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?
All the music in the album was written by
Bill Thomas, and all the lyrics were written by Pantelis “Lordwinter” Daskalelos. This
form of collaboration started from our EP “Infernalia”, which was released almost
a year ago.
4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?
The title track “Revelations In
Black” comprises all of the elements of our new musical style, all driven to their
extremes. Although it had been written as a demo track as early as 2021, it has undergone constant and significant changes in the process. It was as if this song
didn’t want to complete itself. It has the most complex harmonic structure of all the
tracks, it’s written in the fastest tempo, it has the hardest riffs & the most complex
guitar solos; this song is the hardest one to even rehearse. Besides all these, it also
has the longest lyrics of all songs in the album.
5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?
We can’t say that
“Revelations In Black” is a “theme” album, or that it contains a special message.
There is no central subject, besides darkness in all its forms. Quite a number of its
songs deal with grim historical events (“Jutland”, “Wolves”, The Slopes Of
Tenmokuzan”, “Fall Of The Demon King”), whilst the title track and “Buried” are
inspired by dark literature (C.R. Jacobi). “Reflection Of The Beast” deals with altered
states of the human mind and soul, and “Dead Eternal” is a homage to “Dead” and
his legacy. Maybe “Dead Eternal” is the most optimistic track of the album, regarding
the subject of the lyrics.
6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?
Again, from “Revelations In Black”;
take note in the rhythm and rhyme of the verses, which is present in all of the album
tracks:
“Darkness in silk, where shadows creep,
The darkest thirst is secrets deep.
Her whispers weave a thrilling chill
The vampire feeds my blood is spilled
The curse it binds, a twisted thread,
Lifeblood drained, memories bled.”
7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family,
someone you'd love to thank especially?
Inspiration comes from a variety of things, such
as a state of mind, a feeling, a certain event, or just listening to new music or going to
concerts and interacting with other musicians. In our case, the guitar riff is the
cornerstone of every composition of the band. Each song is based on guitar riffs that
are relevant and coherent to each other, and then the other parts of the song come
naturally, such as the chorus or interludes. We often change keys and tonalities between
different song parts, something which makes the overall structure more intriguing. As
far as lyrical themes are concerned, we like to write about historical events, grave
states of mind, and dark fantasy literature (as sources of inspiration). Of course, each
band member would like to thank people close to them for being there and providing a
stable environment for creating music.
8. Something to add?
We’d like to say that there is a lot of good music from Caelestia waiting to get to the surface. New material is already here, in the form of demo tracks,
which will succeed “Revelations In Black” not very far in the future. Thank you so
much for the interview opportunity!!!
