Interviews: Glorius Wolf
On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Progressive Rock/Symphonic Rock studio project, Glorious Wolf. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan it, or did it come out just like that?
I had entered a search query on Google for the meaning of my first name, and it came back
with 'Meaning of Ruud is: Glorious Wolf'
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
I have loved symphonic and progressive rock since
my teenage years, so I grew up with it.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Glorious Wolf is a studio project
that I started myself, in which I primarily handle everything myself, such as composition,
production, and performance. Along the way, I have invited more and more musicians to
contribute, which has benefited the music. I know some from previous bands I played with,
and others were recommended to me, and I then asked them. They have all responded
very positively to working on the Glorious Wolf music.
4. Each band member's favourite band?
That is very diverse for the participating musicians,
ranging from blues-rock artists, avant-garde jazz, and jazz-rock to Joe Jackson. I cannot
sum up mine with a single band either, but if I have to name one, it would definitely be Pink
Floyd.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
I have an inner urge to create, and that
manifests in the music I release under my studio project Glorious Wolf. Furthermore,
because I really love progressive rock, jazz-rock/fusion, and experimental music, and
listen to this type of music a lot, I am inspired by it as well.
6. Where was your last gig?
Not with Glorious Wolf because this is a studio project, but I
play in two other bands, and the last gig was two weeks ago at a festival in the south of the
Netherlands.
7. Where would you like to perform?
Ziggo Dome Amsterdam
8. Whom would you like to perform with?
The Flower Kings, Porcupine Tree/Steven Wilson
9. Whom not?
House and RAP artists
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat
that?
Believe in yourself so that you stand confidently on stage, but a healthy amount of
nerves isn't wrong.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
The great prog giants Pink Floyd, Genesis,
Yes, Camel, Rush, Gong, and Marillion, but also lesser-known bands like MAN, Klaatu,
Mandalaband, and Echolyn. Flower Kings and Porcupine Tree. Jazzrock/fusion:
Mahavishnu Orchestra, Frank Zappa, Miles Davis. Rock: Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple,
Rory Gallagher. I can continue for hours, haha.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
I often wore retro sunglasses
during performances, and once someone wanted them so badly that I gave them to him.
13. What do you think of your fans?
Without our fans, our music has no right to exist. Keep
prog rock alive by buying our music.
14. What do you think of our site?
I think your site has a nice modern look and covers
interesting and informative topics.
