Track By Tracks: Fear Equation - Victims Of The Future (2026)

1. Disconnected:

This song was a straight-on thrasher. I always like to gather other songs as inspiration, and I had a few tracks I had been listening to, which led to me writing this song. Constant Motion by Dream Theater, Blinded by Evergrey, and Tornado of Souls by Megadeth. This song sounds like none of those, but I wanted the speed and intensity of those songs, with a Petrucci-style guitar solo. The lyrics are a warning against our reliance on technology and its consequences on our future.

2. Lifeless:

Musically, very inspired by Evergrey. Lyrically, the song was about a person's thoughts when they’re dying. I chose drowning because I know two people who drowned, and it had a big effect on the family and me.

3. Sands of Time:

Musically inspired by Poets of the Fall’s song Carnival of Rust, Evergrey’s Different Worlds, and Opeth’s Burden. Lyrically, it’s about reflecting on your life and the things you leave behind. Unfinished business, and how we sometimes take life for granted. I have always been interested in melancholic music, and this song perfectly encapsulates that.

4. Replaced:

I had been listening to a lot of Mark Tremonti’s solo work, and the songs My Last Mistake, and Radical Change really made me want to write a song like that. A little bit of Metallica’s Dyers Eve may have crept in there a bit.

Lyrically, I wanted to express how some people only need you when they want something. They can hurt you immensely, and come back because they think they can guilt you into things. Life experiences are a big part of my lyrics.

5. Victims of the Future:

The title track for the album is also the longest song I have written to date. Musically, very inspired by Black Sabbath, Pallbearer, and Threshold, particularly the song The Ravages of Time. I always loved the epic type song with lots of parts that change throughout. It sparks a lot of emotion in me.

Lyrically, a continuation of Disconnected, it’s the worst-case-scenario prediction. Johanna M. Murock provides ethereal backing vocals to the melodic middle section.

6. Ice Blue Eyes:

The final track on the album was actually written as an ode to my girlfriend for our anniversary. I ended up liking it so much that I wanted to include it on the album. Lyrically inspired by our first meeting and the early parts of our relationship, and us learning about each other. Musically inspired by Opeth’s To Bid You Farewell.
