Track By Tracks: Purging Iesous - Atheos (2026)
1. Iconoclasm:
Iconoclasm is the introduction to Atheos.
You’re immediately greeted with somber and lonely ambient guitar chords, followed by the growing chaos of many vocal layers building up the anticipation to set the listener in a corrosive experience. This song is a clear-cut piece to the internal vision I’ve had for this project in particular. I wanted to create a musical experience that shared the influence of Swedish death metal titans, Bloodbath, with many other brutal death metal influences like Devourment, Disentomb, Suffocation, and more. You will hear a passionate vocal performance to detest the spread of religious nationalism, protest against the carnage, and genocidal nature within the early centuries of biblical ruin.
2. Contumelious:
Contumelious is the first song I wrote when I felt the urge to start a new musical journey for this project, Purging Iesous.
Starting the song is the sounds of the prophet being lashed and brutalized, foreboding the music to come. I wanted to combine a lot of different things into this track, and it all came very quickly. Within the span of a few days, I had this song composed. There was an emotional rush that came with the recording process because Christianity is something I have felt a disdain for my entire life. Being able to express my thoughts and animosity towards the functions within the faith helped me navigate and affirm my resentment.
Contumelious is filled with nasty riffs, insane gutturals, and teeth-grinding slams for every extreme metal listener to enjoy.
3. Abandonment:
Abandonment concludes the musical journey within Atheos.
With no frills, this song is focused on bringing a powerful atmosphere to the EP and its conclusion. This track has some of my favorite lyrics I’ve written and plenty of riffs that downright feel fun to play. Abandonment is lyrically driven by the profound violence and terror that was spread during the crusades, providing a canvas to the nine centuries of darkness that followed.
