Behind The Tracks: Deadstill - Rest (Single) (2026)

James Tamarazzo (Singer): So the song “Rest” is about “both” my parents passing away back to back in just 3 years, as it sounds like just one of them, but it’s both. It’s a simple musing about coming of age after a very rough road of life up to their deaths, then the path after their deaths on. My dad was a decorated disabled Vietnam combat vet, and my mom was a hardworking single mom. The tune is also about contribution, one, the actual war (dad), and a war of adversity (mom) growing up in that time and situation. Also, the general human feeling of unanchoring you feel as a child at any age after your parents one or both are gone. Things you may have never gotten to say will remain with you. The art depicts that as well pretty well. That's pretty much the deal.
