Interviews About Albums: Shiverwood Shade - Escaping Darkness (2026)

In this new interview, we sat down with the Indian Groove Metal/Nu-Metal band Shiverwood Shade to ask questions about their album, "Escaping Darkness".

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

Escaping Darkness is a 2026 cinematic metal debut album by Indian groove/nu-metal band Shiverwood Shade that seamlessly weaves down-tuned guitar riffs with orchestral layers, industrial electronics, and synthwave textures.

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

The album title represents a therapeutic psychological journey charting a course through intense inner conflict, doubt, and isolation toward healing, resilience, and personal growth.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

The release was collectively composed and arranged by the full Shiverwood Shade band lineup: Gaurav Ghosh (vocals), Anupam Ghosh (guitar), Saptarshi Basu (bass), Manav Kundu (keyboards), Sayan Pal (drums), and Monish Mallick (guitar).

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

"Divided By Hate" stands out as the ultimate track pick for its explosive fusion of crushing nu-metal riffs, heavy industrial tension, and raw emotional catharsis.

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is, what is it?

Yes, the core message explores the concept that true virtue does not mean being harmless; it means recognizing your capacity for darkness (rage, pride, fear) but actively choosing restraint, discipline, and hope.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

A haunting line from the track "Lost" perfectly captures this struggle

“I am lost with pain in me still fighting the darkness within.”

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank specially?

The primary musical inspirations for Escaping Darkness stem from the early 2000s nu-metal aggression mixed with modern electronica. We drew immense sonic influence from bands that mastered the collision of heavy riffs and electronic programming—most notably Linkin Park, Bring Me the Horizon, and Breaking Benjamin. This helped us shape our "Cinematic Metal" identity, weaving heavy post-hardcore dynamics together with industrial textures, EDM-style drops, and sweeping synthwave pads.

On a personal level, the album is heavily inspired by inner conflict, survival, and the fear of losing our identity to uncertainty. The thematic backbone was deeply shaped by the emotional weight of our band’s dramatic rebirth, which involved relocating 1,500 kilometres from Gwalior to Kolkata in 2022 and completely rebuilding our lineup from the ground up. Leaving our old world behind to forge a new path directly inspired tracks like "Divided By Hate”.

We owe everything to our families, friends, and the dedicated fans who stood by us through this decade-long evolution. A very special thank you goes out to our global record labels, From The Depths Entertainment (USA) and MN2S (UK), as well as Asher Media Relations, Rock Rage Radio(USA), and W.O.A.FM for believing in our heavy electronic collision and helping us turn our darkest thoughts into an immersive musical journey.

8. Something to add?

We would love to add a massive shoutout to each and every member of the Shade Army—our incredible fanbase—for keeping our fire burning through all our lineup changes and geographic shifts. This album belongs to you just as much as it belongs to us, and we cannot wait to sweat, scream, and experience these songs live with you on the upcoming Chasing Daylight Tour. This is only the beginning of Shiverwood Shade's next chapter, and we are ready to take over the world together.
