Behind The Artworks: Mama Doom - Eminent Womb (2026)

I lost my mom to cancer almost 14 years ago, and Chuck's mother passed 4 years ago. Anne's mom had some health scares, but is doing much better. She is the center of Anne's world. Both Chuck and I carry holes in our hearts from losing our mothers, and it made us reflect on just how important the role of a mother is—not only within a family, but in all of us.

Combine that with everything happening in today's world, and everything women have endured throughout history, and I began to realize (almost without consciously intending to) that a theme was weaving its way throughout the album.

Women.

Pain. Love. Birth. Depression. Strength. Beauty.

We knew the artwork needed to complement the title Eminent Womb. We didn't want digital art. We wanted something old school. Something that felt real and could physically bring this work to life.

Grave Dave, co-owner of Gratuitous Productions, is probably one of the most talented human beings I know. He was kind enough to hand-paint both the front and back covers for us.

After shooting the video for Morning Son, we knew we wanted to incorporate the mother and her son (the little goat baby) into the artwork as well.
