Behind The Scenes: CUTTHROAT - Hard Times (Official Video)
“Hard Times” is a song written from my perspective on the current state of the world. Everywhere you look, people are struggling. I know hardship has always existed, but it feels even more prevalent today.
As soon as I wrote the song, I knew I wanted to make a video for it. The concept was to combine powerful B-roll footage with live performance scenes to help bring the meaning of the lyrics to life.
Because my bandmates live in Brazil, we can’t simply get together whenever we want to shoot a video. Instead, we took advantage of our recent tour to capture the band footage. We brought our videographer and photographer, Rogier Dijkgraaf, on the road with us, and I asked him to intentionally film “Hard Times” every night we performed it live. We also shot additional band footage in several locations, including Antwerp, Belgium, the United Kingdom, and Austria.
Once everything was filmed, we sent the footage to our editor, Gabby Vessoni, in Brazil, who brought it all together. I believe the finished video visually captures exactly what we set out to express.
