Behind The Tracks: PLUME - My Cortisol Face (Single) (2026)

“My Cortisol Face” explores distorted self-perception, societal pressure to look beautiful, and the obsession with beauty and constant self-improvement. I often struggle with my own self-image, so I wanted to draw attention to something that is incredibly present in our everyday lives but is often pushed into the background or treated as something we simply have to accept. The desire to get rid of one’s “cortisol face” and the stress that comes with it almost becomes a kind of contradiction. The more desperately you try to change, the further you drift from the state of peace and self-confidence that you actually wanted to achieve. The endless pursuit of becoming more beautiful, whether through weight loss, cosmetic surgery, or other forms of modern self-optimization, can ultimately turn into a state that lies somewhere between a nightmare and one’s greatest desire. We wanted the video to amplify this feeling and blur the line between reality, obsession, and fantasy. Visually, we were drawn to a dark, surreal, „Silent Hill“ type of vibe, in which different realities seem to merge into one another. This visual world reflects the psychological state behind the song. It all begins as a desire for control, but it all slowly becomes something uncontrollable.
