Interviews: Motorik Road Trip
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan it or came out just like that?
Motorik Road Trip was the name of one of our really early demos, and it just kind of stuck. Then we felt it actually became representative of how we write songs, that ideas form from jams in the practice room, and we tend to meander and go off on a bit of a journey with it all. The word ‘Motorik’ can be described as a ‘constant process’ which we embrace as a band, as we like to consistently write, record, and document as much as possible.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
We enjoy different music genres as a band, but with many common threads between us are Stoner/Psych/doom/Angular, so it makes sense to put it all in the pot and see what comes out.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Partly, we have played in other bands in local scenes over the years, where we had played on bills together, being in different bands at the time; we got together in 2022 and were pretty productive straight away.
4. Each band member's favourite band?
Too many to mention really; collectively, we like stuff such as Blue Cheer, Black Sabbath, Leaf Hound, Fugazi, Unwound, Drive Like Jehu, Yob, Kyuss, Melvins, Russian Circles, Mastodon.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Really, it’s a collective drive as 3 people to make music, which is a relatively easy/organic process when you work together with like-minded friends on a mission.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last was supporting Dope Purple from Taiwan at the Old England, Bristol, UK. Dope Purple are an awesome live proposition.
7. Where would you like to act?
Our next Gig is going to be at the Moor Brewery in Bristol, UK on October 10th 2026 with Cemetery Dogs, Dewer and Trusted Arcs.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Were not fussy, well pretty much play with anyone who will have us!

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
Don’t really get stage fright these days as we're pretty long in the tooth now; my main worry is equipment malfunction probably and having a decent sound onstage. Just be yourself up there really, and be rehearsed!
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Other examples of Bands that have inspired Motorik Road Trip? Elder, Causa Sui, Six by Seven, Russian Circles, Unsane, Sumac, Endless Boogie, Ufomammut, to name but a few.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Yet to happen, I think!

Awesome, always nice to get positive feedback from anyone who’s come to see us.
