Interviews: Oscura
1. Why did you wanna play this genre?
It came quite naturally, thankfully, due to us all being quite loose on our music tastes ourselves. We all share a love for heavy music, but also want to keep the melodic hooks and lyrical content that can resonate with people. We started off a little lighter, but as we've developed and truly found our feet, we've found that we are getting that grit to us and are in a position of really enjoying everything we're writing.
2. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Henry and Tony met in college around 2017 and have been working on and off on different projects over the years. We all began to meet after Tony introduced Henry to John in 2023, as John had just bought a new kit he wanted to try out at the time. Tony organised a Jam between the aforementioned three, and it was decided that a project HAD to be pursued after leaving the rehearsal room. Adam was introduced later through a recording session he had booked under Tony, as they were working together on Adam’s solo work at the time. After a successful “vibe check,” Tony introduced Adam to John and Henry as a potential 4th man for the project - and here we are!
3. What or who inspires you to write songs?
It’s a real mix, honestly. We want to be able to reach people who truly resonate with our music and create something truly special. We were all equally of the mindset that we want to write music that forces you to move metaphorically and/or physically through tension and release.
4. Where would you like to act?
Dream festival would have to be Download right now. Think that's a standard for a lot of heavier bands, in all fairness. If we were looking outside of the UK, we would love to play a show anywhere in Germany or the Netherlands; the crowds look amazing, the atmosphere looks amazing, and it looks like incredible places to visit.
5. Whom would you like to feature with?
While we’d love to feature with anyone we get on with, dream names would have to be Kadeem France or Erik bikerstafe, would say how influential they are for modern heavy music; it would be a dream come true to fully work with them on something.
6. Have you suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
Still do; it never really has gone away. It's easy to try to act calm the whole time, but it never really leaves. You've got to go up there and leave everything you have up there. The more you are yourself, the more you're gonna enjoy it, and you're gonna thank yourself after. It's scary at first, but it's a moment to enjoy, have fun, and show what it's really about. And don’t drink before performing, especially as a vocalist. It’s a trap!

Loathe, static dress, fit for an autopsy, Drug Church, slipknot, deftones
8. What do you think of our site?
Love it, great to see a platform showing plenty of content extending over so many things that's so accessible; keep it going!
