Interviews: Unborn Prophecy

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Progressive Death Metal band, Unborn Prophecy from Costa Rica. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The name was partly planned, as we took the time to brainstorm various ideas and possible names for the band, but it didn't take long for the name to emerge without much effort. The name of the band is itself a reflection of several topics that we want to address. Life, death, prophecies and ancient civilizations, their culture, and their rituals.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Playing death metal was not a decision as such, we believe that the genre really chose us. We put our ideas into this music without limiting ourselves to one genre, and when we had already recorded it became clear that what we do is death metal.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

In the case of the founding members David and Juan Carlos, we already knew each other from an old project. Jeancarlo was also a well-known friend of David's. Paulo and Sley were recommended by friends in the recruitment process, and the two joined immediately to complete the lineup.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

It's very hard to choose a single band. Here is a personal favorite of each member: Sley: Cattle Decapitation David: Tool Juan Carlos: Obscura Jeancarlo: Gojira Paulo: Archspire

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

David, who writes most of the band's music, has been inspired by themes such as ecology, ancient cultures, and philosophy to write the lyrics, including themes such as alchemy, ancient prophecies, and ancestral knowledge that converge in this first album.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last concert was a private show in which we played instrumentally like 2 years ago. Since then, the band has been focused on the production and release of the album. For this year we already have several gigs planned.

7. Where would you like to act?

Our ideal stage is the one where we play for people who love metal, we all want to play on a comfortable stage with good audio, but the main thing will always be the spectator.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We would love to one day play with the bands that inspired us, but above all, we want to play with bands that are committed to the genre, and people who love to play their music.

9. Whom not?

We would honestly play with any artist who has a passion for music.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

It will always be exciting to play live, no matter how professional you are, the adrenaline will rise, and many emotions will come up, it is natural. But if you play out of passion, out of love for the art, when you start playing you forget everything. Our best advice would be to take a deep breath and enjoy the moment to the fullest (David) and practice a lot! (Juan Carlos). Remember that people want to see you have a great time and enjoy your music.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Although we want to develop our own sound, we have definitely been influenced by our favorite bands such as Necrophagist, Obscura, Gojira, Tool, Opeth, Decapitated, among other names.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you?

David: A fan once asked me if I was going to make a pact with the devil for the record to be successful. Hahaha, it's very funny what some people believe.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We are very grateful to the people who follow us and support our art, we know that most of our followers are musicians or people who know the genre and that is great.

14. What do you think of our site?

It's great! There is a lot of very interesting information, it is very updated, and you guys give a lot of support to emerging bands.

15. Something to add?

Simply thank the opportunity and the support that the website has given us.
