Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Progressive Metal/Djent band The Revealing from USA, so here you can see and give a like their FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, enjoy this excellent interview of this more excellent.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We wrestled with a couple of different names in the very beginning of the band. None of them really stuck out to us and we didn't want to resort to the typical formula in the genre (verb the noun), so we decided to take some time to think about what we were as a band, and what we wanted to accomplish. After plenty of contemplation, we decided on "The Revealing", because we think that every individual in the walk of life is searching for some sort of higher knowledge. Every individual is trying to "get a glimpse beyond the veil", if you will. So we set out to reveal to people a better level of music, both instrumentally and lyrically.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We enjoy this genre because we find it intellectually stimulating. It is truly pattern driven music, where the patterns aren’t “watered-down” so that listeners from all backgrounds can find it enjoyable. Instead, the listeners of this genre are often distinguished in theory, even though not all listeners are conscious of this fact, because this music is complex. If the listener doesn’t understand the complex rhythms, it would be hard to enjoy. The other main reason why we enjoy this genre is because of the writing freedom it gives us. A song can have a totally asymmetrical song structure and still be accepted. We can create a song however we want to without following the structure from other genres (verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, etc).

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

No we did not. The band actually began with myself (John) writing music individually. Later, when the music became better, I held auditions for a vocal spot, at which point I met Aric (vocals). Now we are living in a town house together, and our music studio is in the basement.

4. Each band member favourite band?

We are all over the place musically, and actually don't listen to metal as much as people might think. Right now we have been big into: Dirty Loops, Zedd, Anberlin, Chris Brown, The 1975, Breathe Carolina, Lamb of God, Issues.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Lyrically, we mostly write from the perspective of the common man. We like to use analogies to paint a portrait of everyday life for the average hard worker, and the everyday struggles he might encounter, but in a more artistic manner.  Musically, the inspiration comes in flashes, and is often times just a simple musical sequence heard in the imagination. Sometimes we just hear things, and need to run to capture them inside the studio. Often inspiration strikes at the most inopportune times, like at work, which is often times why our imaginations are wandering in the first place.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was at a venue in Minneapolis, Minnesota, called "The Skyway Theatre". We opened up for Tesseract, which is kind of cool to put on our band portfolio.

7. Where would you like to act?

We don't really have any expectations as far as future performances. At present we are writing our EP, and have been trying not to schedule any live performances to avoid distraction. But, once the EP is done, we wouldn’t mind playing at Warped Tour, on one of the main stages.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We would really like to play with Periphery. I think it goes without saying that those guys are really, really talented.  We also have played with Veil of Maya in the past and After the Burial. Those guys were super tight and we would love to play with them again in the future. 9. Whom not?   So far we have not heard anything bad about any band, so we have no reservations

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I think we all sort of suffered from pre-performance jitters. But that just adds to the excitement of it all. There's nothing better than when the lights go down, and your adrenaline is pumping, and people start cheering and clapping. I think the best advice we can give is to just remember why you're getting on stage in the first place. It's to have fun. There's a saying, "Courage isn't the absence of fear, but the ability to act while having those fears". So, even though you might be nervous, push through it, and have as much fun as you can!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

As with most metal fans, Meshuggah was the most thought provoking music we had ever heard when we were getting big into metal. That goes for just listening to their CDs. When we saw them in concert -- it was next level greatness. It’s very inspirational to see that band put on a show. Perfect sound, fancy lights and nasty riffs. In addition to that, our old influences, such as John Frusciante or Pink Floyd, really helped us develop a sense of importance for song atmosphere. Having ambience in a song is an important tool for setting the mood or conveying emotion. Our new single, “The Wanderer,” utilizes many different ambient atmospheres, which gives the song many moods (seemingly a good fit for a wanderer).

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Fortunately, we haven’t really really reached the “fangirl” stage of our music career, so we don’t have any crazies asking us for weird favors (locks of our hair, favorite underwear, etc.) Our fans keep it pretty chill, which is nice.

13. What do you think of your fans?

So far, our fans have been great! We especially enjoy when a fan takes the time to really encourage us with a message. Support in the music industry is something that is definitely fan-generated, so we really appreciate all of the people who take the time to listen to us and let us know that they enjoy what we create.

14. What do you think of our site?

You guys have a great set-up, and we dig that you create a platform between music fans and artists, so keep up the great work!
