ANTOINETTE - Interview
Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Post-Metalcore band ANTOINETTE from UK, so here you can see and give a like their FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
I had the idea of using the name Antoinette as a band name a few years before the band even started. I've always loved the sound of the name but it also has it's practical uses as well. I found that whenever I was looking through my iPod for something to listen to, I would often start off by listening to the bands that were at the top of the list. I thought it would be logical to use a name beginning with A and have always kept this in mind when trying to think up band names.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
This particular genre we play is an evolution and amalgamation of all the stuff we have grown up listening to. We play the genre as it is what comes most naturally to us and it is what we enjoy. All of us are free to bring our different influences and skills to the table and I believe that is a key factor of why our music sounds like it does.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
We all know each other from bands around the South West. Benji used to help my old band when we were lacking a vocalist, he also knew Tom and Sam's as both of their old bands used to play a lot of shows together. I met Andy through Chris Allen (recorded drums for our debut EP 'Set In Sand').
4. Each band member favourite band?
Mine is Alexisonfire Benji's is probably The Devil Wears Prada Andy's is probably some thrash band Sam's is most likely some 90's skater punk band (anything from Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1) And Tom's will be some arty band that nobody really believes that he likes, but there is no point asking him as you won't have heard of them anyway
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
For me it is the love of music and wanting to express myself through it. Also for impressing girls. Actually, mainly to impress girls...
6. Where was your last gig?
I think it might have been a birthday party...definitely a scene we are trying to break into
7. Where would you like to act?
For us, I don't think it really matters, we would play in a sewer as long as there was a bunch of crazy people watching us and enjoying it. We obviously have our dreams and aspirations but we need to focus on the journey to getting there so at this point, we just love to play anywhere
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Personally, I've always wanted to play a show with Funeral For A Friend, they seem like really nice dudes and they are my favourite band that are still functioning.
9. Whom not?
Probably Cheryl Cole. No disrespect to her, I just feel it would be difficult to concentrate. I find it tricky to stay focussed when our adoring fans start screaming, I've heard that hers are a whole lot worse.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Yes, stage fright is a crippler! Here are my tips:
1) Try not to give a f***
2) If that isn't working, you aren't doing it properly so try again
3) Prepare in every day life by doing and saying completely embarrassing (but non harmful...don't be a dick) things so that you start to think "if I can do that, I can do anything"
4) Self deprecate - understand you aren't that great and people probably don't care if you screw up. Tell yourself that once in a while
5) If all else fails, try and distract their attention by wearing something stupid or doing something funny
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Alexisonfire by creating such amazing music and Bring me the Horizon for going from one of the UK's most hated bands to one of the most loved
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Probably my autograph on a piece of toilet paper...normal paper was available but she insisted!
13. What do you think of your fans?
I think they are the best thing about this band and the reason we bother to make sure everything we do is of the best of our abilities
14. What do you think of our site?
It's great, easy to navigate and simple, just how I like it
