Interviews: VERITAS
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Hard Rock/Heavy Metal/Progressive Metal band VERITAS from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like
that?
I searched for a while until I came across Veritas. I just liked the way it sounded
and also the meaning.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
I’ve been into music since I was a small child.
My parents were always listening to different types of music. I was introduced to Hard Rock by my visiting grandmother who gave me my record which was from KISS.
She knew nothing about the band but it was recommended by someone at the store.
I was hooked after hearing KISS Alive and hearing the roar of the crowd and the
guitar in particular captured my interest.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
No, Veritas was a fresh
start after my last band took an eventual permanent break. I started searching for
great musicians who were dedicated and had a similar vision of where the band
would go.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
I’m going to take a guess since I know they are
fans of many. Denny is a huge Fates Warning/Ray Alder fan, and Geno is a big Rush fan.
I’m not sure about Mark, but whoever it is gives him a unique style. My favorite
band is constantly changing, currently, I’ve been listening to a lot of early
Queensryche especially Rage for Order
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
I just enjoy playing guitar and I’m writing
new songs constantly. Some of my influences on guitar are Yngwie, George Lynch,
Criss Oliva, and Ace Frehley.
6. Where was your last gig?
We haven’t played any shows yet with Veritas. The COVID
pandemic prevented us from playing out at the start. We currently are auditioning
drummers for live shows. Mark Zonder’s parts are more challenging than we
anticipated and it’s taking longer than we thought to find someone capable of
playing them.
7. Where would you like to act?
We are looking forward to playing as many festivals
as we can here and overseas.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Playing on the same shows with any of the
bands we grew up listening to would be amazing.
9. Whom not?
As long as it’s a similar type of music, we wouldn’t refuse to play with
anyone.
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how
to beat that?
Luckily I’ve never had that issue. I love playing and honestly, once the
lights go down you really can’t see much past the first few rows.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Some of the bands that blew my mind
and made me an instant fan: Yngwie, Metal Church, KISS, Queensryche, Fates
Warning, Metallica, Megadeth, Dokken/Lynch Mob, Savatage, Crimson Glory
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
I had a fan invite me to
visit Ukraine several years ago so they could meet me and show me around their city.
I did go and I had a great time.
13. What do you think of your fans?
I love our fans. They’re all incredibly supportive, and friendly and how can you not like someone who enjoys the music you write.
14. What do you think of our site?
It’s great. You cover a large variety of bands and
styles and the reviews are always very well thought out. Being able to hear music on
the site is a great feature as well.
15. Something to add?
We will have a big announcement soon about the new label
we are signing with and we are currently working on our third full-length CD.
