Interviews: Inborn Suffering

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Melancholic Doom Metal/Death Metal band Inborn Suffering from France. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan it or just come up with it?

It was at a rehearsal. A violinist friend, Olivia, found the name 'inner suffering' and we thought it was a cool name. Later we changed that to Inborn Suffering to fit a little better with our music

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Personally, I discovered Shades of God just before the release of Icon and The Silent Enigma, and it was for me really amazing. This melodic approach to metal was incredible, but I wanted it darker. So I began listening to doom metal almost 30 years ago and it never changed

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Just Thomas and I (Emmanuel) were long-time friends before creating the band.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

I know Laurent is a huge fan of Napalm Death I think Stephane loves Septic Flesh, Tand homas likes a lot of bands like Meshuggah, Dead Congregation, and Dodheimsgard. I really love Shape of Despair and bands like Process of Guilt.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Recently. Depression. We all had a lot of depressive moments these past years. And believe it or not, it’s really inspiring. For example, Laurent made an album called Wastes when he was down and the result is really, really good.

6. Where was your last gig?

I think it was in London in 2010

7. Where would you like to act?

A doom festival. From Dusk till Doom in Belgium, there is a great fest. Doom Heart Fest too. But for now, we have no plans to play live.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Déhá but it’s already done! Maybe Anneke von Giersbergen? But that is my opinion only.

9. Whom not?

I don’t know. I think any collaboration can be instructive

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

I'm still frightened when I play live. But after one song you feel better

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost, and Anathema, at least at the beginning

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Nothing I can remember

13. What do you think of your fans?

The most loyal people I know. Still there after a decade of hiatus!!!!

14. What do you think of our site?

I have checked it and the site is well written and clear and it’s easy to find your way in the menu. I really like the Track by Tracks thing. This is how you have to listen and explain an album. This is like a book. Listening from the beginning to the end.

15. Something to add?

Huge thanks for giving us the opportunity to do this interview
