Behind The Artworks: GREENGOAT - Aloft (2025)
The cover of Aloft is a mix of several sources of inspiration.
On one hand, it’s inspired by the psychedelia of the '70s, with a Pink Floyd vibe but also
with a more modern minimal approach. We thought that representing the characters with
no extra elements captured the emptiness of space and that sense of "elevation."
On the other hand, the pose is inspired by the "rapture" pose, usually related to a religious
state of illumination, but also to a very dark experience seen in several art pieces, such as
Picasso's Guernica, where the characters are trapped in a silent scream with a forced and
unnatural posture. For us, this posture expressed perfectly how we imagine an abduction,
that frozen state in time where you’re aware of the panic but can’t move or fight.
For this cover, Ruth created the characters in Blender and then hand-painted the flames
and distortions in Photoshop, along with the finishing touches, blending techniques
together.
And each of the characters on the cover represents one of the protagonists from the
songs, all in the same state but each with a different experience and perception.
